Home / About

A small firm, deliberately.

Founded in Sydney in 2022, Taxya provides audit, tax and advisory services to businesses, not-for-profits and SMSF trustees across New South Wales — and to overseas groups with Australian entities.

What we mean by ‘in the black’

The phrase is older than the software. In a hand-kept ledger, profits were entered in black ink and losses in red, and a business ‘in the black’ was one whose position you could see at a glance.

That is still the job. Not just a compliant return lodged on time, but a set of numbers you can read — and enough warning to change the ones you don’t like.

How we work

We keep the client list small enough that the person you speak to is the person doing the work. Engagements are scoped and quoted in writing before they start. Deadlines sit on our calendar rather than yours, and we raise decisions while there is still time to make them differently.

Where something falls outside what we do — licensed financial advice, credit, legal drafting — we say so and refer you to someone who does it properly, rather than stretching.

What we cover

Between the ATO, ASIC, Revenue NSW and the ACNC, a growing business or charity can carry obligations to four regulators without ever noticing the third one. We track them together: income tax and GST, company registers and ASIC review dates, payroll tax and land tax, and charity reporting.

For entities requiring assurance, we are a registered company auditor, which means audit engagements are performed and signed here rather than referred out.

Expectations

What you can expect

Independence taken seriously

We do not audit financial reports we prepared, and we tell you which side of that line an engagement sits on before you appoint us.

Fees agreed first

A written scope and fee before work starts. If the scope changes we tell you before we do the work, not on the invoice.

One point of contact

The same person from the first conversation through to the signed report.

Honest scope

If your situation needs a specialist or a larger firm, we’ll say so early. It costs us an engagement and saves you a year.
